Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Deck Familiar (“we,” “us”) is a Magic: The Gathering playgroup companion — a life tracker, game log, and stats tool. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We don't sell your personal data.

Information we collect

  • Account info — your email address and display name, and a securely hashed password.
  • Gameplay data you create — decks, commanders, logged games, results, playgroups, and stats.
  • Optional profile data — e.g. a Moxfield username or a custom commander image you upload.
  • Basic technical data — standard logs (IP, device/browser) needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

  • To provide the app: your account, decks, games, playgroups, and stats.
  • To send essential account email (verification, password reset, playgroup invites).
  • To process subscriptions and keep your plan in sync.
  • To secure the service and prevent abuse.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly functional, first-party cookies — no advertising, no cross-site tracking, and no third-party trackers. Because these are essential to the service, we don't show a consent banner. They are:

  • Session cookie — keeps you signed in after you log in.
  • Active organization & playgroup — remembers which group's games and stats you're viewing.
  • Theme — remembers your light/dark preference.

We also use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel Analytics) to count page views in aggregate — it doesn't set cookies or build a profile of you.

Service providers

We share limited data only with vendors that help us run the app:

  • Vercel — hosting.
  • Neon — database.
  • Resend — transactional email.
  • Stripe — web subscription payments (we never see full card details).
  • Apple & RevenueCat — in-app purchases on iOS.
  • Scryfall — public Magic card data (lookups don't include your identity).

Your choices & rights

  • Delete your account anytime in the app under Manage Account → Delete Account. This removes your personal data and permanently disables login. De-identified game records may remain in your playgroups' shared history so others' stats aren't broken.
  • You can edit your profile data or contact us to request access or correction.

Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. We honor these rights for everyone, regardless of location:

  • Access & portability — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — fix inaccurate data (you can edit most of it in-app).
  • Deletion — erase your account and personal data (Manage Account → Delete Account).
  • Objection & restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • No sale of data — we do not sell or share your personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of. Under the CCPA, we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined.

To exercise any of these, email support@deckfamiliar.com. We won't discriminate against you for doing so. EU/UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

International transfers

Deck Familiar is operated from, and its data is stored in, the United States. If you access the app from outside the U.S. — including the EU, UK, or elsewhere — your data is transferred to and processed in the U.S. Where required, transfers of personal data out of the EEA or UK rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) with our service providers.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. After deletion, personal data is removed or anonymized; we retain only what's needed for legal, security, or integrity purposes.

Children

Deck Familiar isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll revise the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
